Things got a little too real for Samara Weaving while filming her new movie Carolina Caroline.
The star of the outlaw Western romance reveals to Entertainment Weekly that she got trapped in the trunk of a car while filming a scene with Kyle Gallner.
“I got locked in the boot of a car,” Weaving tells EW at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday. “That was fun.”
Her costar Gallner adds that it caused a lot of chaos on set while everyone tried to free Weaving from the locked trunk.
“No one could find the keys,” Gallner says. “And so everybody’s freaking out trying to figure out how to get her out of the trunk.”
Making matters worse was the fact that “it was Kentucky in the summer,” so Weaving was melting in the hot temperature.
“I was in there for maybe 15 minutes, laughing so much, but many people were freaking out,” Weaving says. “You were like, ‘Get in the trunk,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, yeah, no problem.’ And then we slam it [closed] and then … ”
Gallner breaks in, “We yell, ‘Cut!’ and we’re like, ‘Let’s get her out!'”

The story has a happy ending though, as they eventually found the keys after about 15 minutes.
“They were somewhere weird, [like] just on the wheel where you would think to look,” Gallner reveals.
