A recent investigation by the Associated Press found that the CIA allegedly tried to recruit the trusted pilot of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to help overthrow him. The revelations were published shortly after US President Donald Trump authorised the CIA to conduct new covert operations inside Venezuela as he ramps up US activity in Latin America.
