Kelly Ripa celebrated her 55th birthday on Thursday by admitting that she wants “to scream” when husband-cohost Mark Consuelos interrupts her personal time.
The TV icon began the episode of the couple’s talk show — a celebratory installment for her birthday — with a spicy morning host chat that saw her comically revealing what happens when Consuelos, 54, disrupts her personal, private moments.
Ripa brought up an article she read highlighting the importance of “brief periods of alone time” that are “crucial to de-stress and regulate your emotions” in the age of constant stimulation online.

“I love alone time,” Ripa told the audience, before Consuelos asked his spouse, “You don’t take it personally that I love alone time, right?”
Ripa said that not only does she not take it personally, she actually dislikes when Consuelos intrudes on her alone time.
“Sometimes when I’m enjoying my alone time and you come in the room, I want to scream,” she said. “You know what I mean? I feel like you’ve interrupted my alone time because you’re done with your alone time. And then you just come in, like, oh, your alone time’s done, so so is mine. But I need 40 more minutes. It’s there if you read the schedule.”
“No, no, it doesn’t say, ‘Kelly alone time,'” Consuelos observed of the schedule in question, with Ripa telling him, “Okay, I’ll be more specific” in the future.
Earlier, Consuelos celebrated his wife’s birthday by telling the audience, “Today is a very important day. It’s the day that my very favorite person in the whole world was born. Happy birthday, sweetheart.”
The couple have been, by all accounts, happily married for nearly 30 years, having wed in 1996 at a Las Vegas chapel after meeting as costars on the soap opera All My Children.

Married life has, in the past, come with the couple dealing with others intruding on their joint personal time — like those neighbors who made a noise complaint about them in 1999.

“It’s interesting, our neighbors, who — they’re fine — out on Long Island, they complained about a Halloween party back in 1999. The party was from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It was a kids’ party,” Consuelos said in October 2023, to which Ripa added, “It was a kids’ party, and we got a noise complaint from our friendly neighbors.”
