Hampstead
A charmingly leafy area with independent shops, modern and old-timey cafes and quaint pubs, its pedestrian alleyways lead to antiques sellers, resale shops and bakeries. Abutting the large Hampstead Heath public park, this affluent area has attracted actors, writers and artists. If you ignore the traffic, you can imagine it back in its heyday as a Georgian spa town with its cottages and cobblestone streets.
Best for: Seekers of a village vibe.
Where to eat: Ottolenghi Hampstead ($$)
