The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a brief ground stop at Los Angeles International Airport due to a staffing shortage. The order went into effect Sunday at 8:45 a.m. and was lifted around 10:30 a.m. Flights between Los Angeles and Oakland were affected, and the agency said delays could persist.
Amid the government shutdown, air traffic controllers will miss their first full paycheck on Oct. 28, and U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has warned of more delays as sick days increase. “Just yesterday, we had 22 staffing triggers. That’s one of the highest that we have seen in the system since the shutdown began. And that’s a sign that the controllers are wearing thin,” he said on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
