As Gaza peace talks gain momentum, and Israeli attacks in Gaza continue, Delano D’Souza welcomes Bahaa Zaqout, a resident of Deir el-Balah, living in the very heart of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza resident describes living in a constant state of crisis: war, conflict, violence. Many feel they are merely surviving and there is a pervasive sense of despair: “nothing to look forward to,” “no future for us or for our children.” This as peace talks between Israel and Hamas have resumed at an Egyptian resort city on the two-year anniversary of the militant group’s surprise attack on Israel that started the war that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
